Sooner or later in life everyone discovers that perfect happiness is unrealizable, but there are few who pause to consider the antithesis: that perfect unhappiness is equally unattainable. The obstacles preventing the realization of both these extreme states are of the same nature: they derive from our human condition which is opposed to everything infinite. Our ever-insufficient knowledge of the future opposes it; and this is called, in the one instance, hope, and in the other, uncertainty of the following day. The certainty of death opposes it: for it places a limit on every joy, but also on every grief. The inevitable material cares oppose it: for as they poison every lasting happiness, they equally assiduously distract us from our misfotrunes and make our consciousness of them intermittent and hence supportable.

what a fancy little ditty!

val' day - muah! Feb. 15th, 2005 @ 10:37 am
I think just like any other holiday, as long as you don't put all this pressure on it, it's a very pleasant one. Punch and Judy was yummy, I'd try it on a regular nite. I actually think lots of restaurants weren't packed cuz of the weather - also plenty of parking, and chocolate fondue was finally consumed. I was at first mad that their regular menu wasn't available and was forced to have the prix fix...apparrently restaurants can't make too much money when it's full of two toppers. And before we went, since they wanted reservations (damn snooty restaurants), we went to salt bar. That's another yummy place. The interior is very similar to 'inoteca and a lot more affordable. the ambiance is like inoteca also but with a louder, drunker crowd. Great wine. Had a little too much though in a short amount of time. Wine just hits u like a big, fat, slow-moving brick I don't know why. Makes me very sleepy.
But it made me feel quite refreshed.

So my sister was having a conversation about cartoons, and her friend swears he once heard papa smurf say....
"go smurf urself!"

hahahah I wonder if they can say that! Although I can imagine the context - he had to have been talking to brainy smurf.

Another choice phrase from the snorks:
"that's a piece of kelp!"

they don't make good cartoons anymore...
